Whether you are moving to Summit County or already a resident of our wonderful area search everything the web has to offer, right here!
Remember to take a look at my Feature Homes.
Summit County is located in the Colorado Rocky Mountain's. Many spots throughout the county are actually on the Continental Divide, which is the highest mountain chain in the continental United States. If you drive east through the Eisenhower Tunnel into Summit County, you cross the Continental Divide. From here, the rivers and mountain streams flowing from the mountain tops run west. Whereas on the Denver side of the divide, the water runs east all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
In Summit County, mountain peaks dot the skyline wherever you look. As you head out of the Eisenhower Tunnel from the east and begin to descend into Dillon Valley, you will see the rounded shape of Buffalo Mountain rising above the town of Silverthorne to the right. Looking left from this vantage point you can see the entire Ten Mile Range. Beginning with Peak 1 over Frisco. This 10-mile, 10-peak chain runs clear to Breckenridge.
Entering Summit County from the west, you might realize why Colorado is also known as "Ski County U.S.A." You will pass Beaver Creek and the Vail Valley, catching just a small glimpse of the expansive slopes of Vail Mountain. When you see the slopes of Copper Mountain, you've arrived in Summit County. In just minutes you'll see the Dillon Reservoir (which catches the snow run-off from all these amazing peaks and is used as a water supply for the city of Denver.) Keystone Resort lies in the far background of the lake. If you're traveling at night, you may even see the slopes of Keystone illuminated for night skiing.
